Entwined - Heather Dixon Entwined is a retelling of the Twelve Dancing Princesses. I liked it a lot. There is a palace with a king and queen and their 12 daughters. The palace has fallen into disrepair, the royal family has little money, and most of the magic that used to be in the palace has been removed. The princesses are all in love with dancing, but when their mother dies, the palace is in mourning for a year and that means no dancing. Determined to dance anyway, the girls discover a secret pavilion and a mysterious man who calls himself the keeper. The girls all agree to dance in the magic pavilion and clearly no good comes of it.It was a great story of how a death can kind of break what's left of a family apart, but also about how families can overcome obstacles. The story moved along quickly and I was only mildly frustrated when all the younger princesses did obviously stupid things and then cried when they weren't going to get their way. This is a good one for those who like some romance and action or who like fairy tales.
